DESCRIPTION

The Wilderness Drone Operators Course is designed to build CAP drone pilots with experience operating drones in support of CAP operations in the most challenging field conditions.  This is a new course with extensive prerequisites on the leading edge of applying UAS technology to field SAR applications.  Students will get hands on experience in both classroom and field environments advancing their skills and training to operate UASs in support of a full range of CAP operations.

Target Graduation Qualifications:  Unmanned Aircraft Systems Technician or better.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Senior Members Only

  • ICS NIMS 100b, 200b, 700b, 800, and IS-5.A complete

  • CAPT-117 Part 1-3 complete

  • Physical Category 1 (in accordance with CAPP 60-50)

  • Completion of Cadet Protection Training

  • Completion of Level 1 

  • FAA Part 107 

  • Recreational UAS Safety Certificate (TRUST)

ADDITIONAL NOTES
  • Course fee includes food, housing in barracks at Fort Indiantown Gap, and some training and safety equipment.
  • Apply for this course under “Hawk Mountain Ranger School Half Week Course" in eServices.
  • A supplemental application is required.
