NAVIGATION WEEKEND
DESCRIPTION
Hawk Mountain's Navigation Weekend is a two-day course designed to teach new and experienced Rangers the fundamentals of search and rescue and field navigation. This course focuses on Ground Team Member and Ranger Second and First Class skills necessary to be successful in the field. It also provides a great opportunity for new members to become acclimated to preparing and living in a field environment over a two-day period.

Basic Course - Designed to cover skills from beginner through Ranger 2nd Class and Ground Team Member Level 2. Classroom instruction is supplemented by practical field exercises. Intense navigation classes and exercises combined with Search and Rescue applications.

Advanced Course - Covers navigation skills from Ranger 1st Class and Advanced Ranger. Review of all basic navigation, UTM, aeronautical navigation including VOR and plotting terminal approaches.

Pre-Registration is required via our online registration form found here.
All members must submit completed Medical forms CAPF 160, 161 and CAPF-31 for each activity. Cadets must have signed parental permission, out of PA Wing must be signed by your Wing Commander. The completed CAPF 31 needs to be scanned in PDF format, then email to HawkMountain@cap.gov at least 3 days before the event.
